A Christmas Guide for your Runner/Walker

If you have a runner or walker in your life, then you know there is a constant wish list. And I am excited to share my favorite Wish List with you.

1. Gift Card for a Shoe Fitting

Unless you know exactly what size shoe your runner or walker wears and what they are accustomed to wearing, then a gift card is a MUST! Living in Mobile, AL we have three great running stores that help runners and walkers try on shoes and test them out.

A word of advice here, not all shoes are created for everyone, and it is super important for a runner or walker to be in the right shoes. Shoes should get your runner/walker excited about hitting the pavement!

2. COROS Watch

There are several different brands of Running Watches and Coros is my favorite! I’ve been fortunate to have had several brands to run with and by far Coros has exceeded my expectations! The battery life is phenomenal, the app is really cool, and an easy-to-use watch for any runner/walker!

3. Race Fees/Port City Pacer Membership

Port City Pacers

Let’s be honest, racing fees can add up, and that’s why covering the cost of some races is a great gift. We also have the Port City Pacers Membership, which is great, they offer discounts on their races. Plus, Port City Pacers provide great races of various distances that support great causes here in our city.

4. Socks

A great stocking stuffer, pun intended! And yes, socks are the best! Let’s be honest, living in the South, while it’s great and all, cotton is not our friend on our feet. Feetures, Balega, Swiftwick, Bombas, and the list goes on of great brands.

Running/Walking socks should have polyester and nylon because they are breathable and sweat-wicking. Many of these brands are sized by foot size and uni-sex, so just make sure to look at the sizing of the sock. Check them out at your local running store.

5. Running Gear

From Lululemon, Vuori, Rabbit, Fabletics, etc., these are all great brands! Again, we have great running stores that not only carry these but also have local running clothing. Who doesn’t like a good running outfit?

6. Hydration

Handhelds. Belts. Vests/Packs. Hydration bottles range depending on the race distance and preference of the runner/walker. Again, the local running stores will be able to share their expertise when it comes to the best type of hydration for your runner/walker.

7. Nutritional

The perfect stocking stuffer for the runner/walker’s hydration and fueling for crossing the finish line. Fill that stocking with Honey Stingers gels/chews, Nuun tablets, LMNT, etc. Your runner/walker will thank you!

8. Recovery & Safety

One of my favorite recovery items is RockFloss. Easy to pack and perfect for warm-ups and recovery.

Light-up items are a MUST, especially during seasonal changes. Our nights are shorter and yet we still have to hit the pavement. Visit your local running store to try out vests, belts, headlamps, etc.

9. Goodr Sunglasses

An absolute favorite item from the pavement to a beach day, Goodr sunglasses are perfect! Find a funky or sophisticated pattern with these no-bounce sunglasses! Don’t ask me how many pairs I have!

10. Hats/Junk Brands

Headwear is a must for runners/walkers! Let’s be honest, we sweat a lot and junk brands help with that while looking fun crossing the finish line. Headsweats or BOCO is great too!

Your runner/walker’s favorite shoe brand might have a great hat to check out too! You can even get some customized if you wish!

In the running/walking community, we keep no secrets, and we love to share our favorites with one another. These are just a few of my favorite things. I cannot express enough how important our local running stores are to keep your favorite runner/walker on their feet crushing finish lines!
