What gets you out of the door for a run? I have a few motivations, and by now, I’m sure you’ve figured out that one of them is lacing up my running shoes. This year, I have had the opportunity to try out multiple pairs of shoes, a few I would have not tried otherwise. And as we begin to wrap up the year, one brand that has stood out is On. The Cloudsurfer Next replaces the Cloudgo for 2024 as On begins to consolidate their shoes into a family of lineups. Sharing name only, it is a departure from the On Cloudsurfer’s soft cushioning and plush ride, instead designed for quicker paces and a profile akin to race-day shoes. IS THIS SHOE FOR YOU?
The Cloudsurfer Next is somewhat of a niche shoe for me. It performs fine for everyday, easy runs but really excels at quicker paces shy of speed work. This makes it a great choice for progression runs, particularly long efforts. If that matches your criteria, it is a solid choice for your money. Those fleet of foot would benefit at all paces. At the end of the day, you are getting what On is known for; an easy on the eyes, well built, quality shoe.
