Mizuno Neo Zen 2

Mizuno Neo Zen 2 Review: More Grounded, Still Fun

Thirty-one years ago, Disney released its greatest animated movie: A Goofy Movie. Rewatchable, endlessly quotable, and featuring the iconic song “I2I,” it’s a classic I’ve loved sharing with my sons. But did you know there was a sequel? Six years later, An Extremely Goofy Movie arrived. Not quite as chaotic or full of “goofy” energy, but still underrated.

The Neo Zen 2 has some big shoes to fill. The original Neo Zen was my shoe of 2025 and feels like the running shoe equivalent of A Goofy Movie: memorable, lively, and a little unstable at times. With updates to promote fit and stability, can the Neo Zen 2 inspire the same affection and complement the OG as An Extremely Goofy Movie did? Let’s find out

IS THIS SHOE FOR YOU?

The Neo Zen 2 is a strong option for the runner who wants one shoe that can handle a little bit of everything. It feels comfortable enough for daily mileage, stable enough for longer efforts, and responsive enough when you decide to pick up the pace. With a more accommodating ride and a significantly improved upper, it will work well for a wide range of runners. Those who experience mild overpronation may even find it stable enough, depending on individual needs. At $160, the price is a slight bump, but it still sits within that approachable daily trainer range and delivers solid value for what you are getting.

WRAP UP

The Neo Zen 2 is the “Extremely Goofy Movie” of running shoes: a little more grounded, a little more polished, but still full of charm. The upper fits snug without feeling tight, the midsole balances stability and responsiveness across a variety of runs, and the outsole delivers dependable grip and durability. It may not have the original’s bouncy chaos, but it’s versatile, approachable, and easy to reach for day after day.

The Mizuno Neo Zen 2 is available at Run N Tri Mobile. Aaron and staff provide a premier fitting process that includes proper measurement of the length and width of your feet, arch, and leg axis. A gait analysis is performed to identify pronation or lack thereof and pressure points.

In addition, an interview is conducted to determine the best type of shoe for your needs and goals. So stop by Run N Tri Mobile so they can put you in the latest offering from Mizuno or one of the nine other brands carried in the shop.
