Diadora Frequenza Review: Finding the Right Frequency

Running has a rhythm. It’s not just about speed but finding a pace that feels right and settling into a groove. Finding the right frequency is about syncing up with your body and the road until it all just clicks. And once it does, running becomes more like a flow and less like work. A minor tweak can have a big impact on how your runs feel and how far you can go. The right shoe is a key piece of that puzzle, helping you lock in and keep moving without distraction.

Enter the Frequenza. Introduced in 2024, the Diadora Frequenza is a lightweight, responsive shoe built for tempo runs and race days. The Frequenza 2 is the latest version, but with only an upper update, the two should feel pretty similar underfoot. The original model pairs a bouncy supercritical foam with a race day-inspired design that leans fast and efficient. But does it deliver on that promise when the pace picks up?

IS THIS SHOE FOR YOU?

If you’re after that race-day feel without a plate, the Frequenza finds a nice rhythm. Light and responsive for tempo days, quick enough for track work, and smooth enough to cruise through easy miles. Heel stability can be a concern, so it might not suit runners who need extra support or deal with pronation. But if you’re after a do-it-all shoe, this one’s worth a look.

WRAP UP

The Frequenza feels built for rhythm. It’s light underfoot, the foam has real bounce, and it moves well when the pace picks up. The upper locks in nicely, even if the toe box runs tight, and the grip holds steady when the roads get slick. It’s not perfect, but it has a way of getting out of the way and letting you settle into your stride. Diadora built a quality shoe that delivers speed with a balanced mix of responsiveness and adaptability.

Disclosure: Diadora provided the shoes for review free of charge, but all opinions are my own. They had no input or review of this write-up before it was published.
