DESCRIPTION:The Publix Battleship 12K\, a patriotic run to honor those who have served\, was started in 2015 as a way to pay tribute to those heroes who defend our freedom. Many Veterans have not received the hero’s welcome that those returning from WWII received\, and it was with this in mind that the event was created. Whether someone deployed to combat or only served a brief time\, every man and woman who has put on the uniform to keep our Country free deserves to be thanked. \nFrom the patriotic opening ceremonies and National Anthem to the spirit on the course\, and finishing at Battleship Memorial Park next to the USS Alabama\, runners and walkers will experience a sense of patriotism rarely felt at an event. Upon entering the park for the homestretch runners are greeted by children handing them small American flags to finish their 12K (7.65 miles) journey. DESCRIPTION:The 15th Annual GO Run 5K Race and 1-Mile Fun Run is returning to an in-person event on Saturday\, Sept. 17\, 2022! The event will take place on the campus of the University of South Alabama in an all-new location\, starting and finishing near Hancock Whitney Stadium. \nProceeds from the GO Run\, presented by the Catranis Family Charitable Foundation\, support revolutionary gynecologic cancer research happening at USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute. Early detection\, prevention\, and treatment advancements are continuing thanks in part to the long-standing community support that GO Run receives. SUMMARY:Hurricane Run 5k 2022
DESCRIPTION:The Port City Pacers will host the Hurricane Run 5K at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. Come out and race through the neighborhoods of Dauphin Island to benefit the Dauphin Island Fire and Rescue. There will also be a 1.5-mile fun run to start at 9 a.m. The awards presentation will start at approximately 9:30 a.m. and there will be fabulous food\, fun\, and beverages provided after the race. \nPre-register by mail (entries should be postmarked by September 3rd)\, in person at McCoy Outdoor\, Run-N-Tri\, Fleet Feet in Mobile\, or Running Wild in Fairhope until noon on September 8  or online until 4AM September 9 (available soon). \nRace participants will receive short-sleeved moisture management tee shirts. Shirts will be sized for men and women. Tee shirts are available on race day while supplies last. Shirts will not be reordered after the race.
