For me, the running community is family. Every time we show up to run together whether at a race or time on the pavement it’s a family reunion. I am surrounded by aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, moms, dads, & siblings. We are rooted together by the journey of the pavement.

But we are so much more than runners. It’s what we get to do, not who we are. We share not only the journey of running but also life.

And that is where Run Your Story comes from. What brought you to this moment, to this finish line? What made you lace up your shoes for the first time. For some it’s been part of your story since you can remember, for others the chapters are just staring out. No matter where your run story begins, it’s still part of your story, it needs to be heard.

“The hardest part of running/walking is lacing up the shoes and showing up”

Just like in running where not every run is easy, there are Hill days, endurance training, tempo runs, and so on, that is the same for life. Some days are easy peasy while others we just want to be over. Not every day is great nor is every run. But we show up and put in the work.

The running community continues to teach me how to show up and that community is the most important thing. And that’s why I am honored to share Your Run Story.

A part of your story becomes a part of mine and when I hit the pavement I take what I’ve learned to heart. I become a better person from the lessons you’ve learned on the pavement, I take to heart your mantras and advice. I try out your favorite running items. I become a better runner, a better human being because of your story.

Run Your Story Podcast is about hitting the pavement together both in running and life.

So Run Your Story because every story needs to be heard.

Chrissy Schneider

Chrissy started running with the goal of walking onto her college soccer team; she continues running because she loves the clarity of mind that can be found on a run. In 2013, Chrissy was introduced to yoga and quickly fell in love with the synergy between running and yoga. She completed her 200-hour yoga instructor training in 2021 and is thrilled to be part of the Run Your Story team!

Sarah Nell Leman

Running has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My grandfather ran and both of my parents were runners. The love for running wasn’t always there, as I mostly did it out of necessity for soccer conditioning. I began to appreciate running post-college. I had to work harder at it than I ever had to before and that led me to an earned respect for the sport that led me to love running. I’ve found the sweet spot for myself that consists of strength training to better my runs. When you strength train, you work not only muscles you engage while running, but all the muscles that surround and support those muscles as well. Strength training mentally and physically builds your endurance which enables you to run past your previous limits. Your performance is miles better with strength training. Each mile is a privilege, and I am excited to be a small part of your running journey!

Kristen Rather

Hey all! My name is Kristen Rather and I’m a local Mobilian! I live in Saraland with my husband, Ben, and two kids: Isaac(9) and Emerie(7). I began running as a way to de-stress while obtaining my DPT at Alabama State. I fell in love with running and the people it brought into my life. Overcoming any challenges and meeting goals I set for myself has been one of the most rewarding parts of my running journey. I look forward to meeting new people as well as growing as a runner during this training program.

Misty Tillman

Hi my name is Misty Tillman and I am a resident of Saraland, AL. I teach outdoor fitness class and have over 15 years of experience. I have a great supportive husband, two wonderful grown sons and one precious two year old granddaughter. God truly blessed me with a gift when I was presented with this opportunity years ago. To have a support system is so important to reach your fitness goals. I fell in love with outdoor fitness because of the many benefits it has. It allows us to change locations that will challenge your body with the different terrain. I incorporate interval training that builds muscle, stamina, and endurance. My passion is to help people stay active and reach their full potential in a fun and encouraging environment. I began to appreciate running post-college. I had to work harder at it than I ever had to before and that led me to an earned respect for the sport that led me to love running. I’ve found the sweet spot for myself that consists of strength training to better my runs.
